The New Commercialization of Bedford Avenue

The shops and patrons of Bedford Avenue, one of Bedford-Stuyvesant’s most important North-South corridors, are reflecting rapid changes in racial makeup, average income and property values. The trendsetting stores and high-rise condominiums that now saturate the Williamsburg end of Bedford Avenue, are making their way south into Bedstuy, where a number of once abandoned storefronts are now commanding record high prices.
